Pair of Hans Wegner Round Chairs

These Round chairs were purchased by the original owner in the 1950s as part of a dining set which is shown in the photos. The entire set is available for purchase . These items have remained in the same family nearly 60 years and are now being offered for sale. All items have been carefully cared for and are in beautiful condition. The seat cushions were reupholstered at some point several years ago. The best realized of Hans Wegner’s chairs, the round back or “The Chair” was designed in 1948. Exquisitely constructed by cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen. This chair was made famous in the US when the chair was used during the Nixon/ Kennedy debate, the chair epitomizes the best of Danish modern. This vintage example executed in teak is fully marked. The wood frame is in very good original condition with an attractive patina from age and use. Reupholstery is very easy in fabric of choice.
